SOFAB'S Middle East Search and Rescue Training Academy

Challenging the boundaries of Maritime Search and Rescue

SOFAB is excited to announce the launch of its all new Middle East Search and Rescue Training Academy. The Academy will offer Countries in the Region an opportunity to develop SAR Staff and Officers in the specific and often unique competences required to support the effective management of high risk Search and Rescue missions. The Academy is inaugurated in a virtual sense since it offers training in several locations including Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and in Stavern Norway, or perhaps a strategic mix of these two locations. The final choice will be that of the client. SOFAB offers an exciting range of courses delivered by professional SAR experts who have substantial experience of SAR operations management, training delivery and training management in many areas of the world.

Training content is designed at every stage to reflect the guidance of IMO/ICAO offered by the International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue (IAMSAR) manuals, and therefore it truly represents the needs of the Global SAR System. Training delivery can include the use of modern and integrated bridge and rescue coordination centre simulators, where students can exercise and learn in a safe environment. In addition to the internationally recognised best practice, SOFAB, with a long and successful history of maritime and aeronautical business in the Middle East Region, is able to tailor these training solutions to fairly reflect the local cultural, geographical and political needs.

Training specialists assigned to this initiative will themselves be trained to the exacting standards of the Certificate of Training Practice (CTP) or equivalent as a minimum. This Trainer training, along with Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) will ensure that courses and modules are designed and documented in a professional manner and in a way which will promote the highest possible transfer of learning potential.”
