Glossary K through L:
KSA-S/1084:
Ministry of Trade and Industry, License
Number S/1084, Dated H 1425/7/23, Sending
number 19/12027. Technical Test Rating using
construction fundamentals mathematical formulas
which guarantee the Structural Integrity
above all case levels listed below. This
License approval is based on impact resistance
per meter of 40,000 kgs at 90 kms per hour
with Zero Penetration. (same with a 100
story tower, its now possible to build 200
story structure without the use of structural
proof guaranty. Crash test rating that indicates
vehicle weight/speed during crash test and
are based on the kinetic energy of the vehicle
during impact. Results are normally combined
with the L ratings with the absence of construction
fundamentals mathematical formulas.
K: SD-STD-02.01 Revision
B U.S. Department of State Designation crash
test rating that indicates vehicle speed
during crash test and are based on the kinetic
energy of the vehicle during impact. Results
are normally combined with the L ratings.
K and L Ratings:
Ratings established by the U.S. Department
of State test procedures in accordance with
standard SD-STD-02.01. This standard specifies
a vehicular impact (perpendicular to the
barrier) of a 15,000-pound vehicle at a
speed of 30, 40, or 50 mph.
K12: SD-STD-02.01
Revision B U.S. Department of State Crash
Test rating indicating a barrier with this
rating can withstand a 15,000-pound vehicle
crashing perpendicularly into the barrier
at 50 mph or 80 kph. Normally, the K ratings
are combined with an L series penetration
rating.
K4: SD-STD-02.01
Revision B U.S. Department of State Crash
Test rating indicating a barrier with this
rating can withstand a 15,000-pound vehicle
crashing perpendicularly into the barrier
at 30 mph or 48 kph. Normally, the K ratings
are combined with an L series penetration
rating.
K8: SD-STD-02.01
Revision B U.S. Department of State Crash
Test rating indicating a barrier with this
rating can withstand a 15,000-pound vehicle
crashing perpendicularly into the barrier
at 40 mph or 65 kph. Normally, the K ratings
are combined with an L series penetration
rating.
L: SD-STD-02.01
Revision A U.S. Department of State Designation
crash test rating that indicates maximum
allowed penetration of the barrier by the
vehicle.
L1: SD-STD-02.01
Revision A U.S. Department of State Crash
Test rating indicating a barrier with this
rating can withstand a 15,000-pound vehicle
crashing perpendicularly into the barrier
with 20 feet to 50 feet of penetration (6.1
meters to 15.3 meters). Typically the L
ratings are combined with one of the K speed
ratings.
L2: SD-STD-02.01
Revision A U.S. Department of State Crash
Test rating indicating a barrier with this
rating can withstand a 15,000-pound vehicle
crashing perpendicularly into the barrier
with 3 feet to 20 feet of penetration (.915
meters to 6.1 meters). Typically the L ratings
are combined with one of the K speed ratings.
L3: SD-STD-02.01Revision
A U.S. Department of State Crash Test rating
indicating a barrier with this rating can
withstand a 15,000 pound vehicle crashing
perpendicularly into the barrier with 3
feet or less penetration (.915 meters or
less). Typically the L ratings are combined
with one of the K speed ratings.
